Learning to enjoy exercise again
I was having such a hard time sticking to an exercise routine. There always seemed to something more important that would get in the way. I was also forcing myself to do exercise classes that I thought would improve my body but I really wasn’t enjoying them. I often made excuses not to go to the gym because it wasn’t very fun. I realized that if I wanted to get serious about being more physically fit I needed to take action.Things that helped me:
Scheduling it into my day
Now I look at my schedule for the entire week at the beginning of the week. If there is a 30 min to 1 hour opening, I schedule myself time to exercise. I also make sure to schedule time for the other daily things so it won’t interfere with my time to exercise.
Listening to motivational podcasts
Listening to music while working out is honestly kind of boring to me. You may love it which is great, we all have to find what works for us. Listening to podcasts helps motivate me to work out because I look forward to hearing the next episode and the time goes by so fast! Also, have you ever noticed that you get your best ideas during a workout? All of the endorphins and oxygen going to our brains can make us very imaginative. Combine that with listening to motivation and I feel like I’m on top of the world!
Find joy in movement
I’ve always thought that God left out the flexibility bone when he made me. But it’s amazing to see how my body can change after just a few sessions of yoga. I now try to practice yoga twice weekly because it improves my mind and body connection and I love to see how my body is changing. You have to find the exercise that makes you feel your best in your body. The best kind of exercise is the one you enjoy.
